I'm afraid that that hearing in my right ear is worse than in the left one... Ouch

actually Tuz... I lost part of my hearing in the Gulf War...  nerve damage... so I don't hear equally either.

Never really bothered me...  I just compensate in conversation by tilting my head (my good ear) to whom I'm speaking with.

Considering what I've put my ears through over the past 50 years I'm surprised I can hear at all - yet my hearing is pretty good and equal in both ears. I can only smell in one nostril though - luckily there is little need for a stereo-osmic ability.

"pardon?"

Luckily for a music lover as I am, I have very good hearing, which is compensation for not having very good eyesight (though it could be definitely worse, like my mom's was).

One of my ears has that "buzz" every now and then which really bothers, and I'm sure it's product of the  abundant use of headphones some years from now. This obviously will produce some sort-of deafness in future years unfortunately if I'm not mistaken.

Congratulations, join the Tinnitus club. Yep, it is a form of hearing damage. The best thing to do is to get rid of your headphones... and if it bothers you enough, there are dietary ways of helping reduce it.

Yeah, I've already got rid from the extensive use of headphones, only use them when travelling by bus with my MP3.

Thanks for the tip!Smile

I'm not actually sure.

When I listen to music, it sounds as if both ears are equal.

However, when I use a mobile telephone, I find I prefer to use my left ear, as I cannot hear as well out of my right one.

Very peculiar.

Also, my left ear seems to always suffer from more wax that the right one.  When I get my ears wet, it's always the left one that fills up with water. Confused

In 1983, my parents discovered I'm half-deaf. I was 5 years old, I entered school for the first time and my teacher thought I was stupid because I didn't always answer when she was calling me.
My mother suspects an otitis to be the cause of my deafness, but nothing is sure.
I'm noticing your civilization right now just has this overall feel of a guy who's trying to get fired of his job.

My left ear is pretty weak... hasn't been too much problematic though, until now
Let's see, taking these statements one at a time: No you can't and no you can't and yes you have and no you won't.

I have perfect sight and and hearing (knock on wood, knock knock).

However, I can't properly hear people talking to me  if I have my sunglasses on. Anyone else experienced that? I have to take off my sunglasses and say, "okay, please repeat". I'm sure it's a psychological thing rather than a physical one, but it's so bizarre it's stupid. People think I'm joking; I'm not.

All my hearing tests while in the service showed I had equal hearing in both ears, I hear exceptionally well which is a blessing and a curse, somethings you just are not meant to hear, haha...

i know this was up on the forum recently, but it is a good frequency test - test each ear seperately..

start at the top 8kHz and work down to find your limit of hearing - both my ears only went to 14.1 kHz Ermm

I had a worrying experience this past Summer when I seriously thought I was losing my hearing - it turned out to be an infection in my middle ears. Eventually it went away on its own (steam inhalation did help, but there isn't much else you can do apparently).

I went for a hearing test and was relieved to be told that - apart from the aforementioned ear infection - my hearing was fine in both ears. I also went and had the wax syringed from my ears

Mind you, with all the loud concerts I went to back in 70s and 80s its a wonder my ears aren't permanently wrecked. These days I try to look after them a bit more - I dunno what I'd do without being able to listen to music...

I can hear all the tones up to 14.9kHz with both ears - the last two (14.1 and 14.9) seem much lower in volume though, I can only barely hear them. Interestingly, I can hear a tone for the 15.8 sample too, but it appears to be an artifact in a lower frequency (lower even than the two preceding tones).
