And if so, what would it be? Just curious as to what people think.

Invisible Touch?? Hold On My Heart?? Can't say I've heard "Watcher of The Skies" or "The Knife" playing in a department store.  That's gotta be worth something to some people.LOL

From their prog work of the 70s, I can't think of one song that stands out as their "signature".  I guess the same goes with their 80s and 90s works.

Hmm. I'm not too big on Genesis, and I've always assumed 'Land Of Confusion' was their sig song (I heard it on the radio SO many times). Never heard of Supper's Ready, guess I'll have to listen to it.

Thats why I said in the prog world.  What they are known for on this forum and what they are known for to the average person are completely different

I believe The Musical Box, being that combines complexity with good lyrics, excellent structure and attractive sound.

This track describes what Genesis is, a band with a solid sound in which individualities are not renotely as important as the team work.

I want to tell you about most important  prog rock song . THE KNIFE. many of bands based to this song. but this song does't signature in this age. i hate  genesis after 1984 . I think Last good album from genesis is GENESIS(1984). Genesis after HACKETT is not genesis and prog rock band.

Dancing with the Moonlit Knight has to be their signature, and contains pretty much the best of every element early Genesis had. The opening line is known by pretty much every single prog fan out there.

Supper's Ready is their monster epic but it's almost hard to call it a single song.

Turn It on Again might rival Land of Confusion from the pop era.
Current Listening:

Devin Townsend: Addicted and Synchestra
Cynic: Focus
Dead Soul Tribe: Murder of Crows
Sieges Even: Navigating by the Stars
Ansur: Warring Factions
Gentle Giant: Power Glory
