Rick Miller: Falling Through Rainbows (Canada).
A multi-instrumentist playing interesting atmospheric progressive rock.

Clearly prog rock if you ask me. Not extremely original, but it's  a good one.

Note that I own the album.

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Though it has an obvious Pink Floyd influence, I think this is another for Crossover to consider.

Hmm, hmm, lately, it seems that meaning of Crossover is slipping from my hands, still outside my reach. I should learn about it more than suggesting another band, or supporting something for Crossover. But I suppose you're right, there's a lot from a lot styles.

Is Crossover one of these busy departments overrun by  work to do, or one of these sugar free ones ? There's quite big disparity in number of suggestions to certain genres.

They get a large number of suggestions, and various teams, and people such as me, have passed stuff onto them (mind you, only if I think it Prog and right for that category).   Of course there are a lot of bands that have mainstream elements and too often if there's even a whiff of commercialism/ mainstream sound to the music, it gets sent to Crossover for evaluation. Worse, though, some see it as a place for acts that are maybe slightly more prog than prog-related (seen so many suggestions saying for Crossover or Prog-Related -- mind you, a number of acts were moved from Related to Crossover).  I've also seen that quite a bit with ones suggested to Eclectic (suggested for Eclectic or Prog Related).

If only Indo Prog/ Raga Rock would get a thousandth of the same number of suggestions (there are quite a few of that ilk not included) but that's a more esoteric category.  A huge number of bands are crossing Prog and mainstream music.

As Logan already hinted, they are positively overrun with suggestions. So, even if they try to take care of each of them as soon as they can, this is not going to happen overnight. The Heavy Prog team (of which I used to be a part myself) gets much fewer suggestions in comparison.
