FROM LAZIO...

Ælementi come from Rome and have been active for more than ten years before realising their debut album. Formed in 2007 and led by guitarist and composer Daniele Lulli, all along this time they have honed their skills and tried to find a personal way to merge different influences ranging from Italian prog bands such as Banco del Mutuo Soccorso or Premiata Forneria Marconi with newer, heavier sounds inspired by likes of Rush or Shadow Gallery. In 2017 they finally managed to release their debut work, entitled Una questione di principio (A matter of principle), thanks to the interest of the independent labels Lizard Records and Andromeda Relix. On the album, the line up features along with Daniele Lulli (guitar) also Francesca Piazza (vocals), Manuele D'Anastasio (drums) and Angelo Celani (bass) plus the guests Dario Pierini (keyboards), Giordana Sanfilippo (backing vocals) and Carlotta Sanfilippo (backing vocals) while the nice art work is provided by Maria Chiara Santoro. The overall sound blends vintage and modern with strong melodic accents and a slight leaning to AOR that is worth listening to, especially if you like other Roman bands such as Magnolia, Layra or Laviàntica...

FROM VENETO...

Il Fedelissimo Bracco Branco came to life in 2013 in Motta di Livenza, a small town near Treviso, when Guido Morossi (drums) and Loris Ceccato (bass) teamed up with Federico Panighel (accordion, keyboards, lead vocals) to play original compositions inspired by classic and progressive rock. In 2014 guitarist Stefano Crovato joined them and, after a good live activity on the local scene, in 2017 the band self-released an excellent debut album entitled Appunti di navigazione (Navigation notes), a conceptual work dedicated to the sea. In my opinion it’s an excellent work, fresh and rich in ideas. The use of accordion and the theatrical vocals give a particular touch of colour to pieces where vintage echoes are perfectly blended with more modern sounds while the packaging and booklet are enhanced by Erika De Pieri’s wonderful paintings that in some way convey the musical content into visual art...

FROM PIEMONTE

Arca Progjet, from Turin... The band took shape on the initiative of Alex Jorio (drummer of Elektradrive) and Gregorio Verdun (bass and keys), then joined by Sergio Toya (vocals), Carlo Maccaferri (guitar) and Filippo Dagasso (keys and programming). The debut album, coming soon on JollyRoger Records, features as very special guests Mauro Pagani (P.F.M.) Gigi Venegoni and Arturo Vitale (Arti & Mestieri).

FROM SARDEGNA...

The Sundering came to life in 2010 in Sassari as a heavy metal band. After some line up changes, in 2012 they started to work on new original pieces turning to a different, more elaborated style adding more colours to their musical palette by incorporating in their sound different influences ranging from psychedelia to hard rock and prog. In 2018 they finally self-released a debut album entitled Pentameron with a line up featuring Filippo Lacana (vocals, cello), Fabio Cuccu (guitars), Davide Mura (guitars), Carlo Berretta (bass) and Lorenzo Murineddu (drums, percussion). It’s an interesting work where the band showcase good musicianship and a passionate love for classic rock and prog...

FROM LAZIO...

Alessandro Evangelisti is a young, classical trained keyboardist and composer from Rome, graduated at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory. In 2017 he recorded and self-released an interesting debut album entitled Disincanto (Disenchantment) gathering around him a line up featuring Francesca Palamidessi (vocals), Andrea Di Pasqua (guitar), Lorenzo Chiarantini (guitar), Leonardo Giuntini (bass) and Umberto Maria Lupo (drums). The result of the recording sessions is a colourful mix of progressive rock and strong classical influences where delicate piano passages alternate with hard, frenzied electric guitar riffs and dark organ waves.

FROM TOSCANA...

Dollaro d’Onore were formed in 2012 in Pistoia as a rock tribute project to Spaghetti Western films original soundtracks and it wasn’t until 2015 that they started working on original composition in the same style. The name of the band refers to the Italian title of Rio Bravo, a 1959 American Western film produced and directed by Howard Hawks and starring, among others, John Wayne. Having honed their skills with a good live activity on the local scene, in 2017 they finally self-released an excellent debut album entitled Il lungo addio, featuring four covers and six original compositions where the band try (in their own words) to revive the classic Spaghetti Western original soundtracks undertones in a modern rock-oriented fashion... relying on a Progressive Rock approach. The current line up features Lorenzo Pinto (keyboards, piano, Moog, bandoneon), Gennaro Alfano (guitars, banjo), Francesco Pellegrini (bass) and Alberto Buti (drums) but during the recording sessions many guest musicians contributed to enrich the sound. The result, in my opinion, is a mature work in the vein of bands such as Goblin, La Batteria, Strato’s or Calibro 35...
