A bit of a long shot here, but...
Does anyone have sheet music for the flute at the start of Oily Way (Angel's Egg)? Or is anyone here up for trying to transcribe it? I looked and asked on the Gong website, but no luck. |

A new flautist, eh? Welcome on board. As I get to meet Gong in a week I will be sure to ask them for sheet music, or at least a tutorial, for me to post here.

At the risk of sounding like a worn record....
Sheet music, tabs etc. are subject to the same copyright restrictions as the music itself. Please do not seek tabs, transcripts, copies etc. via this site. We know the industry is watching.

It's all a bit mad. Surely the industry knows that just hearing a piece of music is enough to know what notes are being used for a trained (or even "naturally able") musician.
My advice to you, Fracture, is to use your ears and then a bit of trial and error. Good luck. You are obviously a person of very discerning taste to start with, so I have every confidence that you will suss it out pretty quickly. Here's a random sequence of notes, which may or may not sound a bit like the first 4 seconds of the intro:
"C#,E,F,F#,G,C#,B,G#,G,F#,E-C#,E,F#,E-C#,E,F#,E."
I didn't copy this, I merely heard it and am now quoting it . Lyrics fall under exactly the same copyright laws and they get quoted left, right and centre all over this site. Neither the honourable Mr. Livin or Mr. Fripp seem to mind about that.

Sounds good to me, I'm sure I can work out the rest with this starting point.
Thanks ;) |
