As the title suggest this topic has to do with Magnum.

As a youngster (not too old still) I used to listen to a couple of tunes from Magnum here and there. After many years the samples I heard from PA put me back into play. A further few years ahead, which is now, I decided to go for it and bought myself Chase the Dragon, The Eleventh Hour and On a Storytellers Night.

Even within those albums I find quite a few differences although they are close in release date i.e. 82-85. I hear lots of melodic pomp or glam hard rock with a few elements that differentiate them from the masses... To be honest, I was expecting something more in the NWOBHM vein with more epic characteristics but was not dissapointed.

I still need to listen to the albums a few more times to get a more rounded opinion, but it sounds like it is going to be an interesting experience. They do not seem to have received lots of attention here in PA and I can see that prog is not the main feature of their music.

So any experiences you would like to share or any opinions on Magnum? I am thinking that I should have gone for their earlier releases as they sound a bit closer to hard/heavy rock judging from the sample of Kingdom of Madness here.

I used to listen to them during 80s whIlst at University as one of the guys rooming near to me was quite a fan, and played them quite a lot. I quite liked them at the time, quite tuneful and melodic and easy on the ear.
