Or is it important to have this kind of background. Know how to measure albums by knowing these.

This has been done before few times. I did not bother to check this time (the list is ever changing you know) but I usually have a bit more than half.
I think a better question would be which albums that are not in the top 100 or even top 250 should get much more recognition.
Just as an example I'll mention Esperanto's "Danse macabre".

Just listing stuff that's in my collection but it pretty much matches all I have heard.  The numbering does not match the ranking in the top 100 or any kind of personal ranking.

Supertramp's on there, by the way, because I tried it because it was on the list. LOL
I was only able to find it a chain store.  I was searching for anything from the top ten that I hadn't heard.  All the others, not to be found.  This is why I do most of my CD shopping on the internet.  It was the third store I went to for crying out loud.Angry

I think the algorithm was updated recently. Otherwise I would have had heard only about 9 albums in the Top 100. That's why I created this thread.Smile

I like to look at the top charts and realize that I have a unique taste. Whether it's the IMDb, PA or some other chart, there're always a vast number of titles that I don't even like. That makes me happier. Maybe I'm being too elitist. None of the PA top 100 albums got my 5-star rating yet.

Edit: I checked again and realized there's one album in the Top 60 that I did give 5 stars.
