Hello to all,
I have been using PA to know more about prog for quite a while. After a few months, I realized that this was such a great site that I decided to join the community. I intend to write a few review and hopefully be a somewhat active member. Time is always the limiting factor!
Let's keep on proggin' and long live PA!

Hello from San Diego. I really like the band Osada Vida from Poland. I wanted to reply to the forum on the topic of "Calling All Stations" I found the title track to be soothing with the steady solid meter on the drums and the tri-tones and leading tones on the keyboard. This website is absolutely the ultimate!
Thanks,to all who enjoy progressive rock. Halabalushindigus

Hi BlueGecko,
Je te souhaites de découvrir pleins de groupes que tu apprécieras durant ton séjour!
Quels sont tes groupes préférés? Je pourrais te faire des suggestions.
J'apprécie toujours de croiser d'autres Québecois sur le forum.

Thanks all for the warm welcome! Gabriel, il est bon de retrouver d'autre compatriote sur le site!
A little more about my taste in music... I like old and newer style of prog. I also like music and general and enjoy bands that are not prog in nature. But overall, prog is what i like the most! Here are some of my favorite bands! more or less in order or preference
Old Schoold prog: Van Der Graaf Generator, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Rush, Kansas, Mike Oldfiled, Yes, Gentle Giant, ELP, Marillion (the older stuff mostly!)
New millenium Prog: Arena, Dream Theather, Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Redemption, Symphony X, Tool, Spock's Beard, Shadow Gallery, Timothy Pure, IQ, Opeth, Pendragon, Pallas
Other taste: Metallica (the old stuff!), Black Sabbath, Rhapsody, Soundgarden, Trivium, REM, Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, Coldplay
And so much more! but this should give you an idea. I welcome suggestions for discovering other bands! The discovery is the journey!

I suggest you try Discipline (similar to VDGG), Hawkwind, Etcetera (from Québec), Edge of Sanity and Mars Volta, considering your tastes. You love music from Québec?

I actually know a little about Hawkwind. For some reason it never really worked for me... maybe something is missing in their music...too bland? too psychedelic? I have some sort of greatest hits from them, maybe it doesn't do them justice?
Je connais Mars Volta un peu. J'aime bien ce que j'ai entendu a date. Pour ce qui est de la musique Prog d"ici, je connais aussi Mystery et bien sur Harmonium.
I don't know about the other bands you mentionned, so I will look them up!
Merci pour les conseils.

Try Hawkwind's Warrior on the Edge of Time. If that is interesting at all, also try Space Ritual. |

If you want some links (for music), just PM me!
That topic might be helpful if you're looking for other bands of the local scene:
And I have another interesting Québecois band, but Joel already named it: Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Excellent Post Rock band. Excellent.
