I'm with Snobb - Jack DeJohnette, a classic drummer.

I really like Jack Dejohnette, he's a great (jazz) drummer, but take a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efERFCN0B_0

OK, it's a technically nice thing, I agree, but in more rock-kind. DeJohnette is more jazzy, more subtile and much more musical ( nor only rhythmic)

Jack DeJohnette may be the best drummer of the past 30 years, in any style.

Jack was my pick too. Love that album with Terje Rypdal and Miroslav Vitous that he's on.

I went with Sanchez, because of the drumming on the Pat Metheny albums I've heard that on The Way Up is my favorite.

My vote is for Billy Higgins. Star

Besides drumming, unlike Metheny, he is an accessible and SYMPATHIC guy.  Metheny will always welcome you like if you were stinking sh... Thumbs Down

I won't vote as I'm way more familiar with albums that DeJohnette is on (recordings not with Pat Metheny) than I am the others.  All are great drummers though.
