The Residents' web page recently announced a special set of concerts for something called "Talking Light."  The tour starts in January, but is so far only set for the US and Canada.

Here's a description of the show:

THE RESIDENTS' TALKING LIGHT

"What are ghosts" ask The Residents - spirits of those no longer inhabiting the flesh, but unable to leave their lives behind? Or could ghosts be a manifestation of something even less tangible, like loneliness, unfulfilled desire or isolation? In a world where nearly everything has become defined and categorized, how do we fill our obvious, purely human need for the fuzzy , vague and supernatural - with TV commercials?

The ghost of a morbidly obese woman haunts her lesbian lover, filling the void of death with food commercials and Dr. Phil. A man becomes obsessed by the spirit of an executed serial killer who stuffed the mouths of his victims with Pudding Roll Ups, an extinct kid's food from the 1980's. A dead boa constrictor named Leonard (after Leonard Cohen, of course) plagues the mind of its former owner, currently consuming Oscar Meyer hot dogs by the dozen. These are just a few of the "ghost stories" told through the magic of The Residents' Talking Light.

After all, even in death, will you ever forget that COCA COLA ADDS LIFE?

Here are the dates so far:
January 23 - Santa Cruz CA - Rio - (tickets not on sale)
January 29 - San Diego CA - Birch North Park Theater -

January 30 - Los Angeles CA - Henry Fonda Theater - (tickets not on sale)

Yay, the tour is on the way.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone goes to show before February 2nd, if they could post the cost of merchandise.  I wanna make sure to bring enough spare cash to buy at least a t-shirt, maybe some other goodies too.  Thanks.

Coming to my town next Friday.  Picked a good venue, too.  I've never seen them live except on DVD.

Seeing them this Saturday.  I'll keep my eyes open.  (That wasn't meant to be an eyeball joke, but . . . )

The damage that we do just goes on and on and on but not long enough.

I've seen them live around six times.  Without a question the best show I saw was on the Cube E tour, but each show has been fascinating and inspiring in its own way.
I'm particularly intrigued by this year's tour as it promises to be something quite different.  They're not really touring an album per se, and the only songs available so far are one or two hinted at on Ten Little Piggies (a "futurist" compilation of upcoming projects).  But this might be more of an improvised type of event.  Who knows?
If you check out residents.com, they are some more descriptions of what might be going on.

And I see that since I sent the last message, the site has posted images and a download of the first concert.
It's looking good.
