If it rates high, I will request it from father Christmas.

I agree. It's a very, very good album and for me it was the greatest surprise of this year.

I'm rounding it up to ***. If you want something similar but much better, try Them Crooked Vultures.

Good. Not as good as Alice in Chains or Dirt, but better than Facelift

I'm interested in hearing some of their stuff, but I doubt any real similarity. AiC has a very unique sound, even with the other vocalist changed.
I've seen one review for the TCV album so far, it was very lukewarm.

^ I wasn't hugely impressed either (it didn't compare to solo John Paul Jones), but I think it's better than AiC' album by 1 or 1 1/2 stars. RE the similarity, this is always subjective perception, but there definitely is some.

Initial feedback tends to indicates this would be a good acquisition.
Still undecided if I should request it to father Xmas.... Need more votes! Surely there is more people in teh community that have an opinion!

I have it yet. Between three and four, depends on your taste. They have new vocalist, which sounds very similar to later one. Music again didn't changed too much ( in comparance with Dirt), but it is not a grunge anymore! Some metal peaces, some hard pieces, all in all heavy alternative rock. Not so dirty and acid. But these changes aren't so obvious, more difference in nuances. IMO, good average album ( I listened it few times and sold again - not for my collection). Dirt is enough.

A strong 4 stars from me.I think it's their best album since Dirt.
I really saw no need for a new vocalist,I would have liked it even more if Cantrell handled all the vocal duties.

After 10 votes, it is an average of 3.6 closer to 4 than 3,
I am a little surprise by the comments. Lots of people thinking Dirt being their favorite. For me, their self title seems more mature, a lot of great songs. Dirt has some really great songs too but also had some bad ones.
Comments anyone?
Keep voting!

I'm gonna have to give it 1 star. I was a huge AIC fan, and a big Layne fan on top of that. I just couldn't get over the fact of them trying to do new AIC stuff with a different vocalist; the songs sound too desperate to me. In my honest opinion, i still say they should have attempted to start a new band with a different sound. But then again, to each their own.

It was a very pleasant surprise for me. When I heard AIC were regrouping with a new vocalist, I'll admit, I was sceptical. But the new album is very good, and a perfect tribute to Layne's legacy. Best thing they've done since Dirt.
The new singer is actually quite good. The songs still have that AIC signature style despite no Layne Staley. It could have worked just as well just with Cantrell singing alone, but DuVall does the songs justice. I'm giving it four stars.
