Topic: Kitaro : ) Posted: May 18 2005 at 15:20 |
Hey mates, i guess the japanese synth player Kitaro should be in the prog bands list of this site
He is great, be sure to check his albums Silk Road I, Kojiki, Dream and Oasis.
By the way, in the album "Dream" we have a special appearance. Mr Jon Anderson making superb vocals and composing really great lyrics (all in all he is much superior here than in any Yes work).

I consider Kitaro New Age. He have prog-rock influences, I know.
But his style is close to Yanni, Enya, Loreena MacKennit.

I think we face here the old problem of whether most of his output can fit or not into the prog category. I'm specially fond of the live album "An Enchanted Evening", that I consider true prog, but I'm not so sure about many others. An enjoyable music, anyway, be it prog or not.

definitely new age music...music for supermarket and carpet it is, certainly not prog
there's a huge gap between his impressive collaboration with Far East family band and his solo career!

Yep, agreed. But then maybe I would say the same thing about most or Rick Wakeman's solo production...
Just waiting to be lapidated now...

I had proposed the same too. Besides, Kitaro's former group (Far East...) is already included.
