I haven't heard "Songs From The Lion's Cage" and "Pride" but based on most reviews they're not considered to be among Arenas best albums. I honestly never managed to get into "The Visitor" although I did try playing it 5-6 times.
![]() Here is my opinion: The Visitor < Pepper's Ghost < Immortal? < Contagion

Close thing for me between Immortal, The Visitor and Contagion. I went for Contagion in the end. Hopefully a definitive edition which includes the tracks on the two EPs in their correct places will be with us sometime soon.

Contagion is the sum of it all. Well-crafted and inspired, with an attention to detail. Every song is worth listening to, and it all flows together into a perfect concept album with a coherent story. There is no showing off here, no songs that are unnecessarily long. Good melodies and good musicianship abound. This album is an example of progressive rock and should be better known.
Don't get me wrong, I think both Immortal? and The Visitor are excellent and I love them as dearly as one can love an album. But this is it for me, the culmination of everything that Arena was.
Peace. Edited by Dorsalia - November 30 2009 at 09:36 |

tough choice between immortal and visitor. I only voted immortal because it is falling far behind, otherwise it's a tie.

Conagion, Immortal? and The Visitor are my top three. Contagion is the first progressive album I listened to!

I feel that musically The Visitor and Contagion are evenly matched, but I just like how the songs flow on Contagion more. So I'll take that one.

For me it's between "Immortal?" and "Pepper's Ghost" chose the latter because it's just getting no respect here.

I like 'Sirens' but not much else from Pride. I think it suffers from poor production.
The two best albums are IMMORTAL & CONTAGIUN by a country mile and are classics. THE VISITOR is too neo prog sounding for me and lacks aggression. PEPPER'S GHOST sounds like a band who have run out of ideas. I hope they return with some quality after a long hiatus!
