The Flower Kings - The Cinema Show
Seems pretty straightforward to me, but I like it anyway.

God-awful. Frost (the Genesis band I fronted in the late 70s) did it much better than this. Even Paperlate (my most recent Genesis cover band) was better than this.
The vocals are absolutely terrible; I cannot stand his voice. And where is all the great guitar in the first half? Indeed, where is any guitar in the first half? Also, they turn the bridge ("take a little trip back") into a quasi-pop song. Yuck! And almost all the great transitions - of which there are many, due to the length of the song - are either missing or totally twee.
I never liked Flower Kings, and now I have another reason not to. This is not even as good as the Genesis covers by Transatlantic (of which Stolt is a member), which themselves are not "great," but at least much better than this!
Peace.

5. Living Forever - Moongarden |
6. Time Table - Lincoln Veronese |
7. Blood On The Rooftops - Queen Of Maybe |
8. Lilywhite Lilith - Art And Illusion |
9. Harlequin - Finisterre |
10. Ravine - T.M.A. |
11. The Day The Light Went Out - Legend |

12. Am I Very Wrong? A Place To Call My Own - Nostalgia |
13. Twilight Alehouse - Men Of Lake |
14. The Knife - Germinale |
15. The Lamia - The Ancient Veil |
16. CD 2 |

23. Dancing With The Moonlight Knight - Mirage |
24. White Mountain - Evolution |

26. In The Rapids - Irrgarten |
27. Wot Gorilla - Paul Ward |

29. The Chamber Of 32 Doors - Galahad |
The bands are from Spain, England, Sweden but specially from Italy and mostly unknown except Galahad, Finisterre, Notturno Concertante and Moongarden.
Even Living Forever by Moongarden sounds great and progressive despite being a We Can't Dance track.
I sincerely reccomend it.

It was something they did to get on some Genesis tribute CD, a
last-minute thing... I'm not even certain that the band played on
it, it might've just been something Roine threw together over a
weekend.

I think this was on The Fox Lies Down. I bought that tribute several years ago and sold it at the first opportunity. There are good tribute albums, but that ain't one of them. A couple good covers, the rest stinks.

You're right Ben, this cover is from The Fox Lies Down, an album that really sucks, it's the worst Genesis Tribute I ever heard, especially Dancing with the Moonlit Knight by Darxtar and the terrible Your Own Special Way by John Wetton which is even worst than the already bad original version.
The best one is Los Endos by Patrick Moraz & Ronnie Ciago, completely different but outstanding.

I am a TFK fan, then my opinion could not be taken seriously, but the biggest problem for me is the end of the music, when the sound fades away... I hate this form of ending a song...
But, overall... I liked this song. And I have "The Fox Lies Down", and I agree with others guys, this tribute is very weak. But I like John Wetton's version of "Your Own Special Way".

I LOVE the flower kings...a great band...BUT this is awful. They cannot play the song and seem to avoid all the parts that are hard to play! Descration to me, sorry guys.

I believe that's just the edited version of the song. The full song is available on a Flowerkings fan club CD I own. I don't know what you guys look for in tribute songs, but for me a bad tribute song is when it's done as a carbon copy of the original.
It's obvious this was only done as a bit of fun & shouldn't be taken seriously!

Totally agree, very BAD cover ! For Genesis covers, it's better buy Steve Hackett "Genesis revisited" !

Didn't like it. There were some alright bits but I guess this is yet another example of how modern prog can't compete with '70s prog

Listening to it at this moment... Now this is coming from the biggest
Genesis fan, and I can be very picky at times! That having been
said, I would place TFK version of the song in the category of
"Nice Try"... They seem to have the desire to produce an atmosphere
somewhat like the original, but tweaked and expanded on. Kinda
reminds me of the Mastermind version of "The Endless Enigma"...

'Twas well done enow, I trow -- if I was there, I would have had fun.
These various snooty proghole nay-sayers are a trifle uptight, Man O.....\
Obviously PG and Genesis do it better, but 'tis a goodly tribute/tip o' the cap, methinks.
It's only music, folks.
Lighten up & smile -- I'll pay for the stiches....

Doesn't look too bad of a list of songs, but doesn't any band on earth have the balls to do Supper's Ready or even The Musical Box? Come on now! Hell, I'd be happy sing them, for God's sake!!!! As for the CD, is it avaiable internationally or is it an import?
