Please forgive the earlier topic, as the post did not reflect the true position of the subject, and I would like to thank everyone for the time they are taking to read this.
My name is Jon Snead, and I am the frontman, songwriter, producer, and singer for the progressive rock band "Sleep Siren." I started this band as a project in 2007, and I am proud to say that in just a little over two years, it has grown into a full-blown band, that is preparing to go live and promote not only our debut four song e.p., but also our upcoming full length album. We are quickly achieving a world-wide fan base, and are establishing international sales. I sincerely hope everyone who finds the time to listen enjoys our music. You can listen to us at: http://www.myspace.com/sleepsirenmusic I would like to thank the admins and users who were graciously patient with me on the earlier posting, and understand that there are more proper sections to post this. I will be doing that soon. Thank you all and best wishes, Jon Snead Edited by xaribus - December 27 2009 at 00:52 |

Maybe if you gave the link it would be easier: http://myspace.com/sleepsirenmusic?
And, BTW, this thread belongs to the Suggest New Bands/Artists section of the forum. |

^^ Since you and the band are from Colorado, any plans to see them live in the near future?

In any case, I quite like your sound, it has this dark vibe to it, which I like. Good luck with your album. As for PA, I think it would fit in Crossover Edited by avestin - December 29 2009 at 07:35 |

^ I hadn't wanted to say anything directly, but it's a really bad way to market one's band (deceit makes it seem disreputable) and has happened quite a number of times, which surprises me because one might get a much more positive reaction if one came out as involved in the band (sometimes it's dishonest promoters and not band members). You've gone so far as to list you name in your profile and mention your location, so it's odd. I'm going to request that this be closed if an explanation is not forthcoming as I respect transparency. Was it meant in a humorous way or are you going to say that you're posing as Jon Snead?. Heck, it even started off as a solo project of yours. People appreciate credibility. Whited-out, water under the bridge.

Yeah, recently I came across a myspace page and I really liked it and it turned out to be my own too. What a weird coincidence.

I like what I've heard. Not sure it's really progressive, though.

Fantastic! I'm glad that I finally found a forum where people actually do their homework, as it were. It is amazing how much promotion I have done, under a surname, where my true identity and ACTUAL info was only a click away, and yet no one ever bothered to look. I suppose I have just grown tired of the apathy I have encountered after all the hard work I have put into making my dream come true. Please pardon the "deceit," as one of you called it, but I wanted to gauge the activity on this site, as well as get a footing for where I need to post and what the site is all about. I hope you have the patience to understand, and I truly appreciate all of your comments, and would love to utilize P.A. for it's full potential. I would like to request a wipe of this thread so I can make a more personalized one in the proper section. Hope you all had good holidays, and happy New Year!

Hey Jon, as per your request I checked out your band. Sounds good to me, there is a good chance your band has a spot on PA somewhere. My genre is jazz-rock and you guys don't fit that. I'm not sure exactly where you would fit so you might try sending a PM to Windhawk and see if he will visit this thread and help point you to the right genre team. Avestin or some others might be able to help as well.

I'd suggest Heavy Prog take a listen, though it has Crossover qualities. It's actually good -- appeals more to me than I would've expected considering that many of your influences tend not to be quite my cup of tea.

Thank you all very much for the time you took in posting your replies. So the outstanding consensus, so far, is either heavy prog, or crossover. I'm an not too familiar with the term "crossover" but will be looking into other threads to get a better idea of it's usage and placement. Well, if you guys think it is worthy of being added into the archives, I would certainly like to pursue it!
Thanks again, and everybody be safe getting hammered for New Year's! |

Hmmm, took a listen here. Can't see this case as Crossover, at least not as a first choice. The final two tracks makes this much more a case for the metal team in my opinion. Heavy Prog as a secondary option - perhaps.
Oh well, I'll notify the prog metal team, and then we'll see what happens after that. |

Thanks. We just got started on recording our new album, "A World In Coma," which is going to be our first full length album, with half of the album having songs that range over the 7 and 8 minute mark. Also we obtained quite a few more goodies (instruments) to use for filler and ambiance. I will definitely keep you all in the loop when we get close to release. I anticipate late summer. Thank you all, for your support.
