The track "One-armed bandit" has strong Fela Kuti, Yes, and Mancini (think 'combo!') influences.

Well, the concert in Paris was great. And I must thank Alex and his girlfriend Andrea for keeping me a seat (I arrived nearly three quarters after the doors opened, but didn't miss the start of Jaga Jazzist gig as they were preceded by a one-man band, Cascadeur, which was rather original, both musically (electro meets mellow folk) and visually (he wears a stuntman jumpsuit, as well as a mask).
The Jaga Jazzist gig was clearly one of the best live performances I ever saw, very dynamic and eclectic (not always musically, as it is mainly jazz-rock, but in the instruments : marimba, xylophone, trombone, tuba, trumpet, steel guitar, doudouk, flute, double-bass played with a bow, bow also used on the side of the xylophone !!!). The drummer, who wore a Public Enemy T-shirt, another sign of this band's eclectism in musical tastes, seemed to be the entertainer, announcing the songs and asking the crowd to clap their hands at times. if you can catch them near your town, don't hesitate a second, it's really worth any penny you will spend for the show. I believe their sound is much less electronic on stage than on their cds, and I hope they will release a live album soon. They played one-armed bandit of course (the stronlgly Fela Kuti-inspired song), and other songs from the previous album but essentially from the last one. They returned for only one encore after leaving the stage, but the whole show was so intense (both for the band members, and for the audince : you could clap and dance to their music) that they couldn't be blamed for not staying longer.

Prog Sphere completed an interview with Martin Hornveth of Jaga Jazzist, recently. We spoke about new album, as well as their previous releases, other projects, their connection with progressive rock, etc. Read interview HERE.

Exactly 5 days less than five years ago Jaga were in Tallinn and it was one of the best concerts of my life so far. I liked their line up, too bad it has changed by now.

I see that they are not coming to the Baltics this time and not even Finland. Sad.
