Founder member of Steeleye Span Tim Hart has died of cancer at the age of 61.

Hart's contribution to the genres we now know as folk rock and prog folk cannot be overstated.

I have not heard Steeleye Span but I'm sure that when a man who played with fine musicians like Nigel Pegrum and Rick Kemp, he will be missed. RIP

yes very sad.  I just listened to his Summer Solstice album with Maddy...delightful.  He lived a full life, leaving music behind in the 80s when he felt that he had done as much as he could, and becoming a wildlife photographer

Sad news indeed.  Only young too.  It's also a shame he couldn't make it into 2010.

In pace, requiescat, Tim Hart.
