Top 100 yay! And with everything rated 8 or above. And no metal, except one exceptionally exceptional exception.

Even so, I still wish I'd replace the second half with much better music. A toast for that in 2010.

A lot of E.S.T. albums mentioned, all in the first half, but since they were without a doubt my favourite band this decade, just consider that I mentioned the four Radiohead albums. Everything Magma or "modern" Guapo (because of Five Suns suddenly sounding great) made it too, oh well.

I excluded albums such as Is This It by The Strokes, Boxer by The National, One Word Extinguisher by Prefuse 73, The Cross by Justice, because I'm far too unacquanted with the respective genres. The first two would have made it, though.

Interesting that you prefer Black Sea and Street Horrrsing to Endless Sumer and Tarot Sport

I agree with the second, it is interesting, especially because the debut is so "hoarse", and therefore not even close to my preferences, but it sucked me in completely. I would say Surf Solar from TS is the best thing the band ever come up with, but what follows doesn't have the same grip for me.

As for Fennesz, Black Sea's ambiances and textures are what I like to hear more, and the album's quite remarkable from that point of view. Both the album and the artist were a recent discovery for me, compared to many others from the list, but given the way I appreciated, it made its way into the list, in the end. I like the glitch of Endless Summer, nevertheless it takes the second half for me to see the very good in it, almost every time.

Yet I imagine(d) the biggest upset would be Neon Bible over Funeral. (the explanation being that, although the latter is one of the albums I'd mention in a heartbeat to define "indie rock", my musical ear ultimately can't accept the vocals, it's just as much of a "let me just start singing, and see what happens" nonchalance - which wouldn't be such a big thing, if those on NB wouldn't sound miles better - only poppier, as the album itself goes)

Oh yeah I didn't even notice Arcade Fire's placement there. I disagree with your perception of the vocals completely, but I can say that I was turned off by them at first as well. I didn't get into Funeral very much until I heard Neon Bible and then went back and tried Funeral again and was from then on in love.

^Nice! Have you heard Grizzly Bear's Yellow House? That one's incredible as well (I didn't feel like clicking back to see if it was already on your list).

The "big list" won't drop until after the deadline.

Sorry about that. I sort of dropped off the face of the earth/moved to France so I've had zero time for this site.

Also, MORE LISTS!
