After two or three pages, this thread will end up being just another religion vs. atheism thread. Why even bother

@Epignosis:

choice #3. I first called it "literally", but then changed it to "seriously" to allow for your attempts to interpret scripture in a different way that some scholars would.

I guess that would be choice #2, and you're the only member of your religion.Wink

I'm thinking of converting.

Some of the The Doctor's...erm..."prophets" just showed up at my door with literature and wrenches.

But I take all scripture seriously.  Unless you think I don't (just curious).

^^ ok, so I should have made it "most, if not all".

Would you call your religion a separate sect of Christianity then? If you plan to start preaching it or define special practices, maybe choice #2 would be better suited.

Yeah, and it's been hell on my church coffer.  Ouch

Seriously though, I'm guessing one of the last two options, as my usual answer to such questions is "I don't know".  I guess I believe there is more to life, the universe, etc. than what we can experience with our senses and what science can so far tell us, but I have no idea what that "more" is.

Oh wait! I take that last paragraph back.  It appears I have some converts.  Big smile

I'm totally irrational and my lame-brain deity of fiddle faddle guitar strumming fantasy says I can take out anyone who looks at me crosseyed.

That means you Freaky Man.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Well, in terms of metaphysics (not matters of soteriology), I find I am closest to Christadelphian teachings (no Trinity, no personal Satan, no immortal, immaterial soul, no eternal hell), but in terms of most other doctrines, I find I am closest to Southern Baptists (with a mostly Calvinist slant, if labels must be applied).

Of course, as I mentioned, I am a materialist, which is why Christadelphianism comes closest to my understanding of the world, but when it comes to matters of salvation, Southern Baptists (mostly) get it right (from my experience).

Words.  Too many words.  That I don't understand.  Confused

Come over to my religion Robert.  All you need to know is beer and wenches (or is that wrenches? Ermm) for all.  No other words necessary.

But biblical Christianity allows for beer and wrenches.  Big smile

No wenches though.

Just a harpy we call a "wife."  Disapprove
