A posthumous album FORTY YEARS after the death of the artist. Take that, 2Pac.

I've heard "Stone Free", "Hear My Train a Comin'", "Red House", "Sunshine of your Love" & "Fire" before. But not in the versions included on the album probably.
I might aswell get it as i'm in a bit of a hendrix-mood at the momentApprove

I was listening to the last few songs on the Woodstock concert and there's a bit where he tells the band  something along the lines of "Let's do Valleys of Neptune. Actually no, I forgot the words."

I picked up the CD today.  $11.99.  Which I guess works out to about the high end of $0.99 per song.  I'll post a review shortly.
Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

That's a very good (if unfinished) song! I was pleasantly surprised. It may have been a classic if finished (the ending sounds like he was gonna lead to a powerful guitar solo but instead was forcefully faded out)

After 40 years, a number of ill-conceived posthumous albums, and countless bootlegs, one would almost have to be skeptical of a new album billed as “12 previously unreleased studio recordings — almost 60 minutes of unheard Jimi Hendrix!” The good news is that Valleys of Neptune largely delivers on that promise.

Well in retrospect it's better to keep releasing Hendrix recordings than to have anymore music from Britney Spears, the Jonas Bros, and or Hanna Montana.

Oh yes, I meant the film should be released because It was the last of the Experience line up.
.I agree there were many fab shows..I have most of them..But  not enough film of those days is available..
So this release would be superb..We live in hope.Big smile

The Albert Hall was one of jimi's best gigs but it wasn't his 'last' good one. He did many great gigs in 1970 including one in Copenhagen two weeks before his death.

Once your dead,,,,, you got it made for life..........

I believe Hendrix himself said that.

So the album released by Obituary in 1997 was premonitory ?

I always loved the recordings of Hendrix with Traffic... the estate needs to officially release that haha.

I have a random vinyl of Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison doing songs together. They sound totally wasted beyond comprehension, but it's still good.

It is encouraging that Kramer is involved.  Hey, I'll give the Estate one more chance to get it right.  Even some of the marginal old releases (Loose Ends comes to mind) -- provided Alan Douglas was not involved -- have a fair share of decent music.
