Hey all,  I am currently listening to the ProgDay 2001 CD and it included 3 songs from this guy Sigmund Snopek III, and I see that he isn't included here at PA.  Here is a link to his website. He says that he has been producing music for 4 decades now.  http://www.sigmundsnopek.com/discography.html  There are some MP3s that are available for download on his site. Listening to the 3 songs on the ProgDay 2001 CD I would say that he definitely belongs here.  Is anyone else more familiar with him and might have a better suggestion for which subgenre that he might belong to.  I am leaning towards Eclectic with my listening to these 3 songs.   The album Roy Rogers meets Albert Einstein is available here for free download.  http://www.badongo.com/file/7463380
I'll see what else I can find on him, but until then, thank you for your time in checking him out.

I don't have time to listen now, and may not have time for a while, but I'll mention it to the Eclectic team and add it to the chart.  I see there was an old topic (2005) on this in General Music Discussions with no responses.

Snopek? Sounds Polish... Mmmmm...

I found reviews on 2 of his albums on the Uzbekistan prog site:

Both of these albums were released on Musea Records.

Here is a description of their performance at the 2001 Prog Day.

Next up was Sigmund Snopek III, a composer and musician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin who has been playing and recording for over 30 years. His music was highly composed classical progressive rock, the kind of stuff that would make symphonic fans drool. Some of the synths had a spacey feel, and at times were gentle and New Agey. For only five musicians the band did an excellent job of sounding like a full orchestra. Much like a progressive rock-opera. One of the standouts was a mellow psychedelic song that Sigmund said he wrote back in 1967. I loved the drifting flute melody and trippy guitar bits. You can visit Sigmund's web site at: http://www.sigmundsnopek.com/.

So does making symphonic fans drool make them symphonic, or does reference to symphonic, spacey, new agey, and psychedelic make them eclectic. Confused

I have his Virginia Woolf album and can definitely see where he could fit in Eclectic.

As an aside, he also appeared for a while in live shows with the Violent Femmes as part of the brass section.  I saw them once - very cool show, not prog but interesting nonetheless.
