Please name your 10 favorite Hawkwind songs. If you were to make a compilation to pique a new listeners interest, which 10 tracks would you pick?

Two questions really, but whatever, a really difficult question for me - one of my favourite bands and to pick ten only. virtually impossible.  I would just pick 'Space Ritual' and then 9 others after all Space Ritual is virtually continuous isn't it? Big smile

Anyway to start things off with no real idea of what would be a good list but hey ho.

Lighthouse
Born To Go (Space Ritual)
25 Years
Magnu
Lord of Light (SR)
Urban Guerilla (Single)
Damnation Alley (Live Studio version)
You Shouldn't Do That (SR Alternate shorter version)
The Psychedelic Warlords (Disappear in Smoke)
Quark Strangeness and Charm.

i will probably come back to this?Sleepy

it is a line from a song by Peter Hammill. the song is about a woman who gets regularly beaten up by her husband and due to that wears her hair like Veronica Lake, covering her face and her bruises

' Been a fan of Hawkwind from 1975 - 1994, which I refer to as their classic prog space rock period. Seen Hawkwind live 3 times on 3 different tours.  Favorite line-up included Huw Lloyd Langton on lead guitar (Huw has such a unique spacey guitar style ... perfect for Hawkwind).  Gave up on Hawkwind after "It is a business of the future to be dangerous", when Dave Brock  took the "rock" out of space rock, deciding to change the sound to the techno rave thing.  Everything Hawkwind (Namely, Dave Brock)  has done after 1994 isn't worth listening to (IMHO).

1. Sword of the east (The Xenon CodeX
2. Fall of earth city (Church of Hawkwind)
3. Looking in the future (Church of Hawkwind)
4. Waiting for tomorrow (Choose your masques)
5. Psychedelic warlords (Disappear in smoke) (Hall of the Mountain Grille)
6. Treadmill (Palace Springs)
7. Assault and battery/Golden void (Warrior on the edge of time)
8. Motorway city (Levitation)
9. Angels of death (Sonic Attack)
10. Images (Space Bandits)

... and there's so much more that's great from their studio albums from 1975 - 1994
