Strange and impressive album, it's still growing on me... I really believe it's their best effort since Six Degrees... so... vote for you favorite song of the album... this will be interesting...

Aw, you beat me!
I voted for The Shattered Fortress. I know it's made up of bits, but I love how it brings together the elements of the 12-Step Suite to a conclusion. Looking forward to hearing the whole suite performed together on this supposed live album coming up.

I did, right?
That song is the only one that doesn't move me... it have all the good parts of the others and is very rocking, which I love... but it doesn't move me... I'm between ANTR, Wither and TBOT... three marvelous songs... maybe I will be the only one who votes for the ballad... it's just so sad song...

The count of tuscany. The rest of the album is quite unimpressive, IMHO.

I actually really like the entire album, but the lyrics to The Best of Times move me the most, so this one gets my vote.

After listening to Wither... I can't refuse to vote for that one... sometimes I get related to that lyrics and is just what I feel so... Wither for me... and I'll be alone... I know...

A Nightmare To Remember. Although I don't like Portnoy's "growling"

. . . and to round out the selections here's a vote for "A Rite of Passage". Yes, it's a bit poppy, but I rather enjoy it, it's the one that I find hanging out in my head on it's own accord.

I don't find most of the album to be impressive to tell the truth, especially the Count of Tuscany, which I find completely overrated. I voted the Shattered Fortress.

I simply cannot understand all the love that's been spewing forth for The Count of Tuscany since this album was released. It's got a great intro that enthralled me the first time I heard it, but the rest of it seems like a peicemeal load of excess. From this album, I vote for A Nightmare to Remember. Their best heavy song since The Glass Prison opened up 6DOIT.

A Nightmare to Remember. Second would be The Shattered Fortress, closely followed by The Count of Tuscany.

I knew I was alone by Wither... but I expected that TCOT didn't take the lead this fast... A Nightmare to Remember is my second favorite and then Best of Times I guess... The Count do not excites me that much...

The only excellent part of this album is the intro to the count of tuscany so I gave my vote to that song

I completely agree; I just don't think that means much. Nightmare gets my vote, though. Lyrics on the album are pretty much awful all around, so the silliness doesn't detract a whole lot.

It's a tough battle between Nightmare and Times, and I think the former wins despite some not so great parts. I too think this is their finest work since Six Degrees and there's no weak track on the album. But it could be much better if they gave their lyrics some more effort, especially in Tuscany, which can be pretty painful to listen to. It's a shame, because musically it's one of the highlights.

While I don't really like post IAW dream theater (Octavarium - the song, excepted), I think The Count of Tuscany had A LOT of potential (magical intro etc) but they really RUINED it for me, throwing in that goddamn long ambient section, where an instrumental freakout should be. I edited it out of course, but I keep regretting that they didn't go in a different direction for the middle part of the song. Oh well, can't please everyone I guess...
Oh, and while we are at it, what's the deal with the lyrics? What were they (not) thinking???
