Listening to this right now on Spotify and it already looks likely to be one of my favourite releases of 2010. Jaga Jazzist are a shockingly recent discovery for me, so I wouldn't like to say how it compares to previous releases, but this album seems to be characterised by a wanton disregard for the boundaries of genre and a penchant for odd arrangements which is almost Zappa-esque at times. It's wonderful. Anyone else heard it yet?

Yes. It is wonderful and definitely shows great improvement since the last album. Great job!

Still growing on me, but so far, pretty good release, some very cool tracks.

You can hear influences from afro-beat and yes on the title track.

Another band I discovered recently blends rock, electro and african soukouss : vampire weekend.

Eh, I wasn't too impressed by the Myspace tracks. I guess I'm too bitter. :(

Only heard it once. So far, didn't sound like no "masterpiece", but it is certainly very interesting. I'll be sure to give it a couple more spins.

Really loving this album.

I heard the title track and Toccata on the radio and bought it on the strength of that.  Otherwise, I had never heard of them but am now keen to explore their back catalogue.  Any recommendations as to what to try next?

This is a wee bit off-topic, but would that have been on Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone, by any chance? I heard those same tracks on that show, which is what made me decide to give it a whirl on Spotify. I love Freak Zone.

You got it in one!

That programme has cost me a fortune.  MDK as the featured album last year is responsible for my current Magma obsession.

The one I like the most is the previous album, even though it has the "lowest" rating:

Prog Sphere completed an interview with Martin Hornveth of Jaga Jazzist, recently. We spoke about new album, as well as their previous releases, other projects, their connection with progressive rock, etc. Read interview HERE!

I wish they release a live album soon. They sound much more daring on stage that in studio.
