For sex appeal it's Mia by far,for playing and composing my vote goes to Jean Luc Ponty.

I've seen JLP and Robby live and of those two JLP wins hands down. I have yet to see Mia live but I'd like to.

Both. I vote for Robby Steinhardt because this poll should end up with a tie and Robby is three votes behind now. Both of them make the difference and add a valuable contribution to th sound of the bands they're in.

Oh come on! Admit it, you had that motive in mind when picking those two pictures Tongue

My vote (obviously) goes to Mia as well. If not for my hopeless crush on her, then for the fact that she's part of one of my favourite bands ever.

I've been obsessed with motW and Kayo Dot lately, so my vote goes to Mia. I have heard a lot more of Kayo Dot and motW than I have Kansas though.

I, of course, had to vote for the person I am attracted to.Heart  However, I will agree with you that both violinists contribute greatly to their respective band's sound.  But even judging by sound, I still prefer Mia.

Mia -- good violinist and far more pleasing on the eyes (I can't not mention the girl violinists from Aranis -- - Liesbeth Lambrecht and Linde de Groof).

If you don't know him well already, methinks you might appreciate Didier Lockwood (at least some of his work).

Mia is the obvious choice for me. Maybe I haven't listened to enough Kansas, but most of the stuff I've heard from them is either pompous or syrupy, usually both. Robby's playing sounds skilled and occasionally quite pleasant, but I get nothing out of it.

Robby Steinhardt. Besides his violin playing and his vocals, he also acted as frontman of Kansas. Without any disrespect to David Ragsdale, who is also a great player, Kansas' latest dvd would have been a lot better!

Robby! Half of early Kansas' sound was based on his violin!Kayo Dot is interesting band, but not at the level of early Kansas works

These two violinists are not only amazing, but give their respective bands a distinctive sound.  Which do you prefer and why?
