Ulver

That´s really cool Jake. Let us know if the band decides to use it. I´m not the most devoted fan myself but it´s hard not to have the deepest respect for a band like Ulver who push the boundaries of musical conventions with every release.

None of their albums really sound like that album, actually there's pretty much no other album like it, but the second best "ambient" Ulver album is the Svidd Neger soundtrack. Maybe you should try that? Otherwise it's a toss up. Perdition City, Blood Inside, A Quick Fix of Melancholy, etc, they're all amazing and don't sound much like Shadows.

Eclectic won't take any bands that have a metal component, so I'm afraid there is not a lot of choice.

We'd perfectly accept music with metal components (I like to say "elements") equal to other components (whatever). We're just more reluctant of saying that a band that was metal in its first period, then became electronic/post-rock in its second period (with metal still interspersing) is eclectic.

That being said, I remember Ulver still being under discussion for a possible move. I myself have listened just last month to Perdition City and Blood Inside for the first time, so I can't make any official statement. Maybe it's best to keep this an appreciation threads, as originally suggested.

And you are correct this time.

It was just the word "component" that is smaller than genres and sometimes even styles, on the scale.

Just curious, why is Eclectic only narrowed down to prog rock and not prog metal also? Couldn't metal acts be assosiated with eclectic?  Ulver  was a metal band, but not anymore(at least not for now) . on their last few records they totaly banished the black metal sound and adopted or invented sound of their own, a unique one. i wont's dare to classify them in any category, but if  i have to,  that surely won't be post rock..  and another thing, since we have eclectic prog rock, then we should incorporate also Eclectic prog metal, that will include bands that deviate from the original prog metal sound into something else ( this solution is probably unacceptable, but i realy can't see where we can move Ulver, unless we put it in Prog related, or as i said before Eclectic)

I've only got Kveldssanger at the moment. But I've heard a lot of their work, and I'm pretty impressed.

And Jake, that design is awesome.
