Just curious to know which is your favourite track from this fantastic album... It's sad that they only had the chance to make 2 albums back in th 70's...

I'll have to go with the wonderful opener! But Ship, Same Dreams or the closer made it a difficult choice...

Very, very tough choice but I went with the title track, Lady Lake, in the end. Love this album.

I love Ship, and Same Dreams has only recently gotten to me, but really, the only song that gave me chills every time I heard it was, the one and only, I Could Never Be A Soldier!

"Ship" gets my vote, but it's a great album in general.

"They only had the chance..." etc. I'm curious to know more... In the sleeve text there's in the remastered double-CD that I have (Lady Lake + In Spite of Harry's Toenail) it's said that they sort of got fed up themselves, as they didn't have the success they wanted. Was it really up to themselves, or were they kicked out by the record company?

Gnidrolog were a great band, one of my real faves. It's a real pity they didn't continue after Lady Lake (I don't count Gnosis as a follow-up to that).

Since I first heard of them, I always thought they broke up because the record company kicked them out or something like that, maybe because that's what happened with other short lived bands back then... But I don't really have any evidence to prove this "theory" (in fact, I wasn't even born when they released both the
albums), it was just an assumption...Confused

It would be very interesting to know exactly what happened... If what is said in your double-CD is the truth then I'm slightly disappointed they didn't try at least one more album because it would probably be another masterpiece... (but of course I'm grateful for the ones they released!Smile)

Lady Lake easily, I reckon. Brilliant piece of music, and the lyrics are genuinely chilling.

I only comparitvely recently discovered this band and 'Lady Lake ' is just an outstanding album .

First off I immediately liked '....Soldier ', then further on ' Ship ' captured my imagination but with time the title track is the standout for me amongst an album full of gems . LL moves through so many phases and culminates in that counterpoint refrain, heavy with saxes and a little heard of bass solo over the refrain towards the end. Moving stuff, best enjoyed LOUD !
Looking still the same after all these years...
