Talk Talk - the Colour of Spring

this album is often overshadowed by Spirit of Eden and Loughing stock (not too put these two albums down ) but tCoS is just as good and atmospheric and also Experimental.

their real Art-Rock gem, and I often compare this album to Roxy Musics Avalon with its atmosphere, flow, grooves, vocals, serenity I often say to myself that the Colour of Sping is like Avalon part 2 (and that is not a bad thing in my book), but alot more Proggy and Outstreched, there is actualy a tonload of Roxy influnce in Talk Talk in general but few in the 80s werent,

the evolution line in to which you can picture where Talk Talk is in the 80s

Roxy Music --> Talking Heads --> Tears for Fears --> Talk Talk

Need to listen to this one, heard that it's a transition album, between their radio-friendly new wave and their post-rock to come. But I believe only one or two songs wander through the "other side of the mirror".

I voted  for Happiness Is Easy...a beautiful and delicated song  ,,one of the best  TT did !!

One of my favourite albums of all time, voted for I Don't Believe in You but it might as well have been Happiness Is Easy.

I was a big fan of Talk Talk in 1986 when this came out.  I just happened to be working for a catering company that summer at various events.  At the end of the Summer the Boss said we had another job for one evening running a bar for a concert.  Asked him who it was and yep it was Talk Talk!  I said I would do it for nothing!  It was a fantastic evening and at a time when TT were playing much bigger venues this was a village hall basically - couldn't believe it.  I don't think they did many gigs after that one. 

Happiness is Easy, Life's What You Make It and Give It Up are my three favourites here. And since the latter has no votes, I vote for it.

Time It's Time is my pick because it somehow manages to remind me of Marillion's The Space! I have no idea how I made that connection, my brain works in mysterious ways. 

Brilliant brilliant album.  I love it all.

yes it is a transition album, as the allmusic reviewer said about it, that it successfully manage to mix accessibilaty with experimental mentality, more organic, every instrument is played with an intention of perfection in every single note and effects and guitar feedback is also used frequent, also space/quietness is also used to make the music float more, it sort of precent sort of the same atmosphere as Roxy Music - Avalon (which i have listen to, extencivly). this album have yet more pulse then SoE and LS, i will argue that if progressive rock was a product of 80s influence rather then 60 and 70s (which it is ) expressions, frustrations, explorartions, bracking new grounds)  then the Colour of Spring will be viewed as a Progressive rock album in its time (with the music styles that were "new" and "fresh" to that decade).since it is bracking new ground, it's qualitivly highly accomplished album in its time and genre, it is not 100% 80s new wave album, the band is Progressing there expression rather radical from their previos albums. i will call it Art rock album (with ambient, Jazz, noise rock, world music, avant influence)
