Topic: Roswell Six - Favorite Main BandsPosted: March 06 2010 at 10:35 |

In another attempt to tie in the month discussion thread I am creating this poll as an additional discussion piece on the Roswell Six album Terra Incognita: Beyond the Horizon. Roswell Six is a moonlighting gig for all of the musicians/vocalists who appear on the album. Which of their day jobs is your favorite? If you would like to discuss it further please go to this link. http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=65438&PID=3570426#3570426Edited by rushfan4 - March 06 2010 at 11:04 |

I foresee Kansas and DT running away with this poll. As there is only one band listed here which I enjoy everything I've heard by them, I will vote for the underdog and go with the Rocket Scientists. There were two main reasons I picked the Roswell Six album up - Erik Norlander and Kevin J. Anderson. I must say that while I think it is a reasonably decent album, there was nothing there that I found overwhelming and the story was not quite as interesting as I'd thought it would be. That being said, Norlander's keyboard work and Sadler's, Lane's, and LaBrie's vocals are all excellent. But so far, nothing has really stuck in my head, etc. I also think the album suffers from being overly long for what was there...a problem I have with a lot of albums these days.

^^^^"Here be Monsters" stuck in my head and later the whole album bloomed. great bass playing on "the Sinking..", supreme vocals from Sadler (a revelation) . I have 7 tracks on my PC , so its a stunner. |

I changed Amaran's Plight to Under The Sun, since that is Kurt Barabas' main band, but if it so moves you then please feel free to express your love for Amaran's Plight. Also, if you happen to prefer Erik Norlander's solo material to his work with the Rocket Scientists, then please let us know that with a post.

I guess there were no surprises with the voting on this one. At least some of the other bands got some votes.
