I was just reading in a Yes site about a very real possibility of Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman doing some shows and releasing an album this year. Then later on they said Wakeman had been talking with Trevor Rabin doing an album with a couple of other nameless ex-member of Yes. So they made the connection that it was most likely all three are to work together this year Anderson, Wakeman, Rabin... and there should be a fourth ex-Yes member to be included. It seems Yes related people who have mentioned to know nothing about this (and so would seem to be ruled out), or have explicitly said that are not involved, are Billy Sherwood, Tony Kaye, Tony Levin and Bill Bruford.
I guess it will be very interesting what comes around this year in the Yes World: Yes working on their own project, Anderson Wakeman planning an almost Yes album too. And then ofcourse, Asia is releasing an album too, Flash (with no connection to Yes remaing anyway) is releasing an album of their own (if I understood well those threads about Flash reuniting). And even Billy Sherwood and Tony Kaye are still working together.

I think there could be a lot of mileage in this.Certainly the two most popular and charismatic members of Yes.
Look forward to itThumbs Up

^ Somehow I missed that thread you just posted. However, in the link I gave, they checked Bruford's website and they expressly denied his involvement. They said Bruford had already retired and that the magazine that was stating his participation surely needed to sell more issues. However, ofcourse I'd love Bruford's involvement.

Now that sound much more interesting than whatever the current Yes (which is not Yes in my opinion) might be doing! Looking forward for this!!!

I understand that they are indeed thinking about releasing an album this year. So we may just as well have 2 Yes albums (of sorts) released this year. It will be interesting to see who makes a better work, if indeed both albums are released.

What about Howe?  Is he in the equation anywhere?   If it weren't for his style, added into the mix, I would have never gotten into Yes.  On that note, I can only hope this so called "Yes album"  will be reminiscent of early yes!

Man, the chemistry of these cats is SO complex!!  I can never tell if Howe is more invested in Yes, "kinda-Yes" (with Benoit David), or Asia!

Considering the apparently bad feelings posted by Jon Anderson about Yes' decision to tour without him, I'd be willing to bet we see a reprise of ABWH without Howe, maybe just AW with some other guys?

Rabin would be OK, but he's not my favorite...there are tons of talented axe-men out there they could pick up who would make it much more interesting!   Same for bass and drums.  Bring in some new faces, please!

Could get interesting, thanks for the information!

The Anderson/Wakeman tour in 2006 was definitely a pleasant experience and, if I can't have more Yes, this is the next best thing (although I hope the Steve Howe Trio keeps on going as well.)

Yep, the JA/RW tour was an absolute delight.

I really look forward to not just the LP & tour, but also the endless arguments on PA about which is more vital, relevant, proggy.......and so onWink

As far as I understand, Howe in not to be involved on this Wakeman / Anderson project (he's part of Yes). As far as Rabin's involvement, well, Wakeman stated he was planning to work with Anderson this year, and also that he was planning to work with Rabin this year. The guys at the page I read about this Wakeman / Anderson / Rabin project made the connection, though I'm not totally sure about how sure they were that the three would be working together. They seemed pretty sure, and were also pretty sure a 4th Yes-man was to be involved.

Well I for one am excited about it. Now I can actually look forward to a Yes-ish project without having to resort to that cover band that has been touring with the karaoke singer.

Is it just me, or does the history of Yes seem an awful lot like a bad soap opera?

Anyways, I look forward to pretty much anything Wakeman's involved in, and with Anderson on the boat for sure, it'll at least be good - but that doesn't mean it'll be Yes.

Here's hoping Howe, maybe even Squire, get involved.  If nothing else, getting Wakeman involved more or less ensures that this isn't going to be another one of those failed "No" line-ups that have plagued the band for decades.
