And I too am grateful for the separate RPI subgenre, which is a tremendous asset to the site in my opinion.

... which is exactly how I came across them as a newbie!

I'll survive. I'm just stating my opinion in a thread about where Area fits in. The two main arguments I've seen for moving them to RPI, is that they were italian and well known.

Roc, I've said multiple times now that it is not simply a geog thing to me, nor is it to Todd.  But I appreciate your opinions.

At least on "Caution: Radiation Area" they are all over the place. Jazz, prog, avant-garde... Hard to classify this band really.

^ Exactly!  Their blend of jazz, avant, and rock, along with addressing many of the issues in 1970s Italy (as far as I understand that, anyway) and their solid place in the pantheon of RPI giants . . . well, it's an easy call from my point of view.

I'd rather like to see Area in Eclectic.
Just a fanboy passin' through.

So as not to risk any fallout...

...I'll back off.  I know better than to mess with undead Crac! heads, and I wouldn't want to wrestle with any cold, dead hands -- very unhygienic, you never know what Crac!s they've been getting into.

Hi,

Neither.

Either you listen to it and appreciate it for what it is, or drop it.

Good music stands out regardless of its label and title. So if you want fusion forget it. If you want Italiano muschiod pizza rolls, just go to some restaurant and forget the prog idea!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

It's uncomfortably somewhere in between. It was rivetting when the vocalist closed his mouth.
