Thumpermonkey Live! play a very complex form of crossover prog. It's a mix of indie prog, heavy prog in the vein of The Mars Volta and sometimes tech metal. Very weird.

I'd put them in the Experimental / Post Metal category myself.Some of their influences are Tool, Devin Townsend, Isis, Neurosis & Cult of Luna - all of which are in that category.

Hello all - thanks for the interest.

Our other guitarist has suggested 'Heavy Art Rock', which I quite like. We were a lot more metal in our youth (at least re: the guitars and drums), but the sound has changed with the recent album.

Checked the samples out last night, awesome stuff. Might need to pick some up soon, actually.

Definitely support for Xover, or possibly heavy depending on Xover's opinion.
