This Australian band was featured with 2 songs in the Prognosis 6 CD with Classic Rock Presents Prog mag. So are they prog? 2 songs sound proggy Rhyme To Reason especially.

read the reviews from prog websites

The Merlin Bird have prog elements certainly though I have not heard the whole CD yet but i am getting it soon as I support all Australian prog bands. Spectrum are another Australian band considered prog by many.

There were other artists that may be considered on that Prognosis CD too. Just a thought. How does the forum feel?

I'm having a little listen now: http://www.myspace.com/merlinbird

I don't know what Prog definitively is, but this Celtic Rock leaning project has PA merit.  Reminiscent of Gentle Giant in part.  Prog Folk team may want to check this band out -- otherwise maybe Crossover would be interested. I can't listen properly at the moment.

Interesting.

I quite like this band 'The Merlin'. But what's Bird Prog? Female musicians?  Big smile

I think you are right actually the Gentle Giant influence is strong. The only tracks i had heard are the two on prognosis 6 Cd from Classic Rock presents Prog mag. I think I can safely say they are prog but I dont know which category. Prog folk?

I think these guys would fit Prog Folk.  I've posted a request for the other team members to check them out...
