Is it grammatical or spelling error ? :-) Anyway, I think that so far it works great. I've made a deal with Misan. and somehow reunited with both guitarist and music from Days Before Yesterday and this made me quite happy.
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Why don't we allow "all-comers", judge them on their worth as to whether they are worthy of inclusion, and then make an appropriate decision?

I think that restricting this to PA artists only might be seen as putting new artists off.

This is a really great idea! I've gotten one album for review, and I think that this feature will create a lot of exposure to unknown bands through reviews.

It benefits the reviewers (such as myself) because we get free albums, and it benefits the artist because they can be noticed in the community. It sounds like a mutual relationship to me!

But how do you rate an album by an artist without an artist page?

Don't they have to be evaluated and added by a genre team before they can have an artist page?

That's my main question as well, Jim.  I have no problem with artists submitting their material for review if they're not on the site, but I only write reviews here on PA, so I think that the bands who aren't on the site should also suggest themselves for addition so that people can review them here.

So i read all the threads and still confused - can someone explain this thread again ....

Is it for just reviewing newcomers who promote their Cds and will post out free CDs for purpose of reviewing... is there a list of such artists as i know not every artist will do this just for a review...

I was able to do reviews from CDs sent out by Yak, for example.
Also got CDs from Dean Watson to review....

The reviews are posated in the PA - so is this a second place to post them?

Are ordinary members able to participate in reviewing brand-new material or is it for existing reviewers and collaborators only? I'd welcome the chance to review something without a pre-concieved notion of what it is, or should be.

SUGGESTION

Would it be possible to make all the albums with 0.00 rating searchable? Similar to the "top 100" lists? This would give every user the opportunity to try and find the lesser known albums, listen to them and eventually rate them. The 0 rating means, nobody cares, or nobody can find this music!.

Perhaps these bands do no longer exist (and no one will post here), or they are not active in ProgArchives.com for any other reason.

This job is very hard to do manually on ProgArchives. It is an easy task for a programmer, I am sure. Thank you for considering.

But if he only wants albums with no ratings or reviews, that doesn't help either - the albums on that list can have ratings, just not reviews.

Hi Andreas, and welcome to the forum.

You can use the "Unsigned Bands" section, or if you want more technical feedback, there's also "Music and Musicians Exchange".

If you're in a band that's in the PA database, you can post in the "Recommended Albums", "Bands Appreciation" or "Review Our Music" sections.

Have fun!

Hi Olivier,

As a "newbie", you need to post five teams before being allowed to open threads in sections other than "Welcome Newbies" and "Welcome Artists". Welcome to PA!  Smile
