Larks in Tongues Aspic?

LOL

I'm so fed up with all these acronyms, why is it such a chore to write out the name of the albums? Or at least shorten it to say, Larks...? Instead of all these, in some cases, unintelligible bunch of letters.

If I turned my favorite album (Kid A) into an acronym, it might be confused with Magma's excellent, but not-quite-as-dear-to-me 2004 album.

Thank goodness Fiona Apple isn't prog.

It was just a little joke to do with the acronym complaint. Tongue

I have too many favourites, however the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is one of my ultimate favourite albums.

Good question dr wu23 please define what you perceive as progressive?

I am most curious about your reply and will revert back too more

It's 'prog related' at any rate. That's how PA sees it so not full blown progressive rock then.

Bowie is another one of those artists (like The Who and Zeppelin..etc..) that I never really considered prog in the strict sense but you aren't going to trick me into that 'what is progressive rock' discussion since as we all know that just goes round and round in circles.
But Ziggy is a great Lp nevertheless.
Smile

you clever sod!
This is very droll what I will say here, but iit's 05:16 am here thus my brain is a tad dead anyway as we all know or understand Bowie is singer-songwriter, record producer, actor and arranger. Bowie has been a major figure in the world of popular music for over four decades, and is renowned as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He is known for his distinctive voice as well as the intellectual depth and eclecticism of his work. (I copied that btw as my brain is quite slow right now and I know I can discuss this into detail at a better day and time)

Jamming good with Weird and Gilly.... nothing wrong with those lyrics. i play that one on guitar - love Ziggy. I think my fave though from the big Bowie machine is indisputably Jean Jeanie, Cracked Actor and Ashes to Ashes. Love Heroes though and side 2 of that album kicks some series 'tocks. Though side 2 of Low is killer stuff. Space Oddity is a masterpiece with a flaming sword.

Where was I?

Oh thats right the Ziggy album. Damn it good for its age. Still PR is Prog even it is related. I wonder who its related to? Bowie in his Ziggy phase. Yeah it was a powerhouse performance. My dog just yawned - it must be mifniht... er.. midnight. I liked your comments. bye

I had to look that title up and came up with

When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He'll Win the Whole Thing 'fore He Enters the Ring There's No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're Right

Thats just weird!!!!

Makes me wanna hear it though, never heard of her to be honest

I am especially fond of live albums, but there are so many good ones I hardly know which one to pick.

Studio albums feel sterile and lifeless (sic!) compared to live recordings, no matter what kind of music it is. A street singer with a guitar around his neck can give me more pleasure than the most sophisticated studio album. Music should definitely be experienced live.

Highly interesting that there is hardly any Krautrock in the list, although a lot of albums of that category< do in my opinion deserve the name "Masterpiece". I hereby include a few albums that are listed under "Electronic" instead of Krautrock.
