Topic: Prog apostate looking for redemption Posted: May 12 2010 at 23:30 |
well i've been a huge fan of progressive music in general for most of my high school years, but since then i just kinda got bored and focused on metal, so i've lost contact with the prog world for about 4 years or so, except pink floyd my all time favourite and some occational opeth, porcupine tree and some post rock. Earlier today i started listening to elp's trilogy again and fell in love with it again. Anyways, did anything interesting happened within all this years? new bands? albums worth mentioning? I'm specially interted in some symphonic stuff, symphonic revival you might call it as symphonic rock in pure essence stoped existing in 1978 or so.
so, any ideas?

Transatlantic's The Whirlwind.
Anything by IQ...
And there's some other band that might be featured in my signature, not sure who, though. (Aww, come on, I haven't done a shameless self-promo around these parts in AGES!)

Piles of stuff really. Probably best to go through the archives to check out some reviews However, if you love Floyd, I would recommend Mostly Autumn. IQ & Transatlantic have already been mentioned - both are colossal. Marillion are about the greatest band the world have ever seen. Also, try out Riverside and The Reasoning. Enough to be going on with, I think.
