I think the band had taken their music as far as they could, and created many beautiful music along the way.
So I must say I agree with and strongly approve of the band's motivation to call it quits.
It only shows their integrity!
I'm sure the split will only create another batch of bands we need to follow up on!

Aww. I found out I missed them live a few months ago and had put them on my 'absolutely must go to' list for next time they came to NZ. Pity, guess I shall blast Wavering Radiant tonight though (I do have their other albums but Wavering Radiant is just... better in every way  )

Im glad i seen this band a couple years ago in Lawrence Kansas in support of the In the absence of truth album. It was one the greatest performances i have ever seen. They also opened for TOOL on the 10,000 days tour. This band never made a bad LP, from celestial to Wavering radiant just good tracks from start to finish.

If they don't feel like continuing, they of course shouldn't force it, but nevertheless it is a sad thing. They were a great band.

It's really a shame. I saw them in Manchester on their last tour, and it really was something quite unbelievable. The atmosphere they managed to create is one I'm yet to experience again.
At least they'll have their side projects to keep us entertained... a sombre consolation.

I had only recently found Isis and am very impressed with their music - kudos to them for making the decision to end the band at what they believe is their peak - there are probably some very unhappy music industry 'suits' out there who would have preferred them to keep going.
Great band and I will miss them but look forward to their new projects.

I feel sorry for you, one of the best live acts I've ever seen, though there choice in support acts tends to leave a lot to be desired. Amazing band that I'll certainly miss, though at least they are foregoing the painful process of becoming a self parody.

 I just heard this news today. I'm so horribly depressed now. Panopticon was a literally life-changing album for me, and Isis is a band who will always be near and dear to me. It's so saddening to hear that they're calling it quits, even if it is for the best, but I still have tremendous respect for the guys for doing what they feel is best for themselves and for their fans. I hope the band members consider future musical ventures after they part ways.
Fare thee well, Isis. You'll not be forgotten by this fan. (I never got to see them live either. Double crying face )

You have said what was in my heart. I feel the same way. This isn't a bad thing; it's gonna ensure that all of the band's music was excellent. I'd rather them do that than release something sub-par in the future just for money.
