I couldn't find topic of this talented swedish band so I decided to create one because in my opinion they definitily deserve one!

Their latest epic concept album Mercy Falls was indeed the best record published 2008 and in my opinion one of the best albums ever made! Fourth release is being recorded at the moment, check the studio diary at official forum: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/seventh-wonder-488/

Biography copied from their myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/officialsw

Seventh Wonder was formed in 2000 by bass player Andreas Blomqvist, guitarist Johan Liefvendahl and drummer Johnny Sandin after their previous band fell apart.

The music turned towards the progressive side of metal and as the band was joined by keyboard player Andreas Kyrt Söderin late 2000, the new sound was cemented further.

Two demos were recorded, the first in 2001 (Seventh Wonder) and the second in 2003 (Temple In The Storm), both of which received good press.

Many singers have come and gone in Seventh Wonder over the years, among others Ola Halén of power metal band Insania Sthlm. The longest living member in the past was Andi Kravljaca (ex: Heave, Elsesphere), and it was with Andi at the microphone that the band recorded their debut album Become (released in 2005), after landing a record deal with Finlands Lion Music.

Become was well received by the press and top scores were given everywhere.
However, the band and Andi decided to part ways shortly after the recording process had ended and once more the search for a singer started

The brilliant Tommy Karevik (ex: Vindictiv) was spotted and he joined the band in 2005, actually prior to the release of Become.

The next album entitled Waiting In The Wings was recorded in 2006 and was mixed and mastered by legendary Tommy Hansen.

Seventh Wonder spent 2007 playing all over Europe and writing the sequel to WITW. The third album was titled MERCY FALLS and released during the all of 2008

It has been 1½ years since Mercy Falls and after extensive touring all across Europe the band is once more in the studio to record a new album scheduled for release September 2010. Stay tuned!

Here's few links of the songs that are pretty good examples of their music

One of the best power/prog metal acts  of the last 10 years. It's what you obtian when you cross DT (I&W era) with Europe.

Their last two albums are excellent. I wrote a review for the last one :

4 stars This is a very nice discovery. In those times when prog metal acts grow in number at the speed of light, a band whose abilities to combine technicality with great vocal harmonies and killer melodies as in the early days of prog metal is a great welcome. Imagine Dream Theater at the time of their acclaimed 'Images and Words' crossed with the likes of Europe around 'final countdown'and you are not far from the picture one could draw from the music this band plays. Seventh Wonder don't venture in the most complex fields of progressive rock, instead they prefer to concentrate on catchy and easy-to-remember melodies where majestic choruses are interspersed with tasty layers of guitar and keyboards. The drums were mixed to sound as on 'Images and Words' and the overall mood of this album is very close to this milestone of prog metal, albeit the melodic factor is more highlighted. 'Mercy Falls' is a concept-album which, despite its length (74 mn), keeps the listener interested from beginning to end thanks to the quality of all its compositions. It's organic and dynamic music that stands out for its brilliant melodies and should not be overlooked neither by die-hard prog metal fans nor music lovers in general. Fans of Shadow Gallery, Queensryche, Dream Theater or more straightforward bands like Europe or Savatage should really dig this record. It is on a par with other concept-albums like Queensr˙che's 'Operation Mindcrime' or Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' and will transport you to a world of magic and brightness.

^Nice review! Thumbs Up Saw them live in Finland mini tour a year ago, killer live act too! Especially Andreas Blomqvist is the opposite of a stereotypic progmetal bassist (meaning that he moves on a stageLOL)!
