Topic: Oceansize vs. the Mars Volta Posted: May 26 2010 at 18:12 |
Which band of the two do you prefer? I find them somewhat similar and either doesn't get a lot of publicity IMO, so just say what you think.
I'll have to go with the Mars Volta, but Frames is a beautiful album.

The one with the guys from the sub-par punk band.

Oceansize, but very close call. Still, I don't think the bands are very similar... TMV tend to overdo their material in my opinion, whereas Oceansize has just the right dosage.

Beautifully constructed soundscapes vs. mad spasms.
I like Volta, but I love Oceansize.

Oceansize is one of the bands I should make myself familiar with. Absolutely love TMV but as I haven't heard much Oceansize I'll not vote.

I've heard the latest Oceansize and it's OK, but didn't find it in the same league with what I like from TMV. No vote for the moment.

Oceansize by a mile but these bands are nothing alike in my opinion. TMV lost me after Deloused.

Wow, I didn't realize there was so much love for Oceansize here. I like Oceansize, and they've made 3 consistently great albums, but TMV push the envelope more, and the result was at least two masterpieces (and three others that are still pretty great).

Mars Volta. Oceansize disappointed me a bit after their excellent first album.

First TMV album was good, second was w**ky bollocks. After that they just bored the hell out of me and I'm craving a return to At the Drive-In.
Oceansize have made three absolutely beautiful albums. Them by miles.
