Jackal is Canadian "one-shot" band which played heavy progressive rock in early seventies. They recorded only on album called "Awake" in 1972. Their music is very similar to early British progressive rock a la Beggar's Opera, Cressida, Fantasy but with harder edge in the vain of Deep Purple/Warhorse. Organ and guitar dominate the recording but we can also lsiten to harpsichord from time to time.

line-up:

Charlie Shannon (vocals), Chris Kellesis (organ), Dave Bernard (guitar, bass), Lois Mutton (drums)

Amazon: "Released in 1973 on the obscure Canadian Periwinkle label, Jackal's Awake album became a highly sought-after album by collectors of heavy psychedelic & progressive rock. Eight tracks. Radioactive. 2004. "

For a second, I feared having read "Jackyl" - definitely not a prog band.

Good band indeed. This one "bites" a bit more than Amish, so I'm going to drop it for the Heavy Prog team. Let's see what they say...
