I've heard At The Mountains of Madness, and thought it just sounded like the typical hard rock of the time.

Ah ha, thanks Alex! Appreciate the lightning fast response too. I'll wait a bit then, and maybe PM Scott in the future, cool. Thanks again!

^ Kudos to you for searching before opening a new thread. Very few suggesters do that.
For proto and prog-related suggestions, the procedure is different than the normal one; only Special Collaborators can ask the Admin Team to vote for a PR suggestion. And if I remember well, Scott (AtomicCrimsonRush) wasn't a SC when he posted in this thread, so now if he's still interested he can make the suggestion. |

Was there a call on Blackfeather? I wrote up half a promo/suggestion for them before I remembered to search the forum. I thought they'd have a chance to be 'Related' perhaps? Especially with At the Mountains of Madness, before they became a less interesting boogie band.
This gem was what I thought might do it (some background from John the guitarist - not being presented as 'proof' of progressiveness, but rather, for more for info for fans) 'Mango's Theme' -- this also featured a string section. Festival would not let me take a copy of the backing, so I had to sit in the studio counting the bars and cue points and then working from memory at home. Still, I was happy with the result and the section leader, Lal Kuring, was very helpful. The music was based on quasi-eastern scales and was basically an improvisation using a bolero rhythm in the middle leading to a key change of F sharp for the solo. The recorded version is only a shadow of what the track was like live - people used to riot at venues." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn35CtPia44 Edited by dreadpirateroberts - June 30 2011 at 08:47 |

There's a prog relation at least, I think. I wouldn't be opposed to such a band in Related. I've expressed before that I think blues-rock really does deserve a place in PA, partially in my support for Cream for Proto-Prog in the past (and there are many bands that are blues-rock based in PA).

It's primarily a pretty standard heavy blues-rock band (with some psych influence and a level of "progressiveness"). It's not Prog to me.

Like Keishiro said in the other thread, I don't find this to be prog... Any other opinions?
