Ananta is a project by a group of Venezuelan musicians that were living in England during the late 70s led by one of the most renown musicians in Venezuela's pop scene: Ilan Chester (keyboardist/singer). Their two albums were recorded in London (next door to Peter Gabriel) with evident Beatles, Yes, ELP, Steve Winwood, Queen and King Crimson influences. Their albums feature a wide array of styles including: symphonic, folk, classic rock (ala Queen), fusion, blues, etc.

Discography and lineups:

Lead Vocals, Piano, Moog & String Synthesizer: Ilan Chester

Edit: just changed the name of the thread.... Crossover instead of Eclectic (see reasons in my post below)

Thanks; having a listen now, and will edit in impressions as I listen

EDITS:

Now just on the second track , but I would think if it were to be taken for a Prog category, then due to the pop/mainstream qualities which are significant, then Crossover would make more sense. I will continue to listen, though.

Now on the fourth, I rather like this track, but it seems like Crossover should check this.

Based on these I would not vote yes for it in Eclectic, and for prog category appraisal, I recommend that the Crossover team check this.

Nice band. I agree with Greg, it's a band for the Crossover Team to evaluate. I'll pass it on.

Yep... I had the doubt between Eclectic (because of the huge diversity in styles) and Crossover (because of the pop elements... sort of reminds me of Queen in some parts)...

I would consider their second album more as an Eclectic effort because the pop elements are somewhat diminished in there.... but considering that their first one is more Crossover and the second one maintains some of those elements, I'll support the Crossover tag....

And as soon as they are added, I will review them :-)
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"
