Just listening to the album A Giant's Lullaby by Kvazar, and finding it an excellent and varied symphonic album, so thought I'd recommend them, as they don't seem to get that much of a mention on here. Smile

I love their debut album (s/t), a Norwegian friend of mine on a prog IRC channel many years ago introduced me to them.

I just heard about them the other day for the first time; I can't even remember how it was I heard about them, so convoluted was the reference.  But thank goodness.  The name caught my eye, and that they're Norwegian, which made me more curious (I love the Scandinavian sensibility).

So I looked them up on ProgArchives, read about them.  Then I opened the player on the page and heard "Choir of Life".  I loved it right away.  I'll tell you freely I can't say that about very many newer bands, so seldom do they satisfy my yen for composition.  Soon as I can I'll be picking up A Giant's Lullaby.

This thread is two months old and hasn't seen a lot of action.  But they really deserve praise if their quality is in fact anything like displayed in that song.

For Takeshi Kovacs or anyone else who knows:

1) Do you know if there's any Kvasar website?  The link on PA doesn't work, and searching on the internet is useless since lot's of groups have used the word Kvasar.

2) I noticed the drummer's name is Kim.  I'm not familiar I guess with Norwegian first names, but is that a woman?  I kind of hope so because I'm always on the lookout for good female musicians, and this drummer is very good and tasteful from what I hear on the song PA has posted.

Thanks

Kim is mostly a male name in Norway. I will try to find out more about Kvazar through my contacts in Norway and try to get an interview out of them. It is on my top 5 wish list.

That was fast, thanks!  I hope you get that wish, and the other five too (well, so long as it's not world domination or some such thing).

I believe I have found them already......... The curse of the ProgArchives Inquisition strikes again...... and everywhere.

I will follow this up.

Btw. I have already fulfilled my wish for world domination........... but it bored me witless. So I resigned.
