Oops, I forgot to at least mention GOTHIC IMPRESSIONS by PAR LINDH PROECT, almost a Swedish supergroup that worked, with all Anglagard (Except Tord Lindman if I'm not wrong), Björn Johansson, Roine Stolt and all the PLP band.

Excellent debut, thanks Gharvelt for reminding me.

Nice suggestion. Something like my fourth favorite.

One of these three on top:
Magma Kobaïa

Art Zoyd Symphonie pour le jour où brûleront les cités

Debuts are great! Weather Report, Return To Forever, Pink Floyd, ELO, Amon Düül II, Kraftwerk, Residents, Can, Eskaton, Black Sabbath, PFM, BMS, Gentle Giant...

Only counting bands with actual careers (=more the three albums).

I, for one, love Moonchild.  It's one of my favorite tracks from ItCotKC... just behind 21st Century Schizoid Man, that is Tongue.

This was a debut that really impressed me.  Very innovative, especially for such a new band.

Maybe I'm just too big a Kansas fan... Embarrassed

Of course. Big smile

Not at all. That's a fantastic (and not to mention underrated) debut.

Glad to see someone else agrees with me!  It really is quite an accomplishment, considering how difficult it was to be an American prog rock band in rural Kansas, especially in 1974!

Indeed. I can't decide for sure but it might even be my favorite album from them.

I don't know so many debuts, but from the ones I know I like ItCotCK very much indeed (despite the Moonchild long solo). Even though Pink Floyd is perhaps my favourite band, I just don't really like Piper very much. Hybris is a really cool album too. And I may add Triana's "El Patio", which I really love.

...Have been really thinking about getting that (^^) album... I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on it.  It sounds pretty original, though.
Also, I don't know as to whether I should get the US or UK release... Confused
