It´s well known this effect among Pink Floyd fans by synchronize at the same time the film "The Wizard of Oz" and "The Dark Side of the Moon" and its pretty good the experience you have after combining these elements.. BTW if you need a proof my avatar speaks for itself Big smile

What do you think about this experiment?  Have you tried to do this? If yes how was your experience?

Its quite hard to get a The Wizard of Oz, (at least here in my city), so I couldnt try it yet.

Could someone post a link? It would be great.

Anyway, you should try this: 2001 A Space Odyssey + Echoes (Pink Floyd)

See ya!

I have tried it, but it didn't work for me.  Perhaps the atmosphere in the house was too clear at the time.
The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty"

You don't need to, I watched a synced up version on Youtube and there were some interesting parts, more than the 2001/PF sync up has, but it definitely doesn't seem like it was done on purpose.

Well, if the two "sound collage" sections in the song and the film sync together, then that would be a creepy coincidence (I didn't watch the video).  It's also said that Stanley Kubrick asked Pink Floyd to use "Atom Heart Mother" in A Clockwork Orange.

'Misplaced Childhood' and 'Ben Hur' also fit fine.

Yes I hear those rumours about the film, but Im not sure if the track choosen by Kubrick was AHM... BTW I tried A Space Odyssey with Echoes and was amazing, also there are something known as Alice on the Wall: a mix of Alice in Wonderland and The Wall, Currently there are many purposes combining music and films..

Great stuff

i have watched DSOTM synched to WOZ and had lots of fun looking at a the coincidences - some are jaw dropping such as

Great Gig in the Sky played thru entire Tornado scene - it is haunting and Torrys voice equals the mood swings on screen

theres some chillin gmoments - Money starts as Doroty enters te color world of Oz - the munchlins bop to the 7/8 time sig of Money

theres a triangle hanging and i swear the horizon is same direction as prism rainbow - Also the withc points at Dorothy as soon as it sings - 'missed the starting gun'

it plays 3 times thru to end of movie on repeat. It actually is a fn way to watch a tired old movie.

you can buy it synched up here

or here

you can watch it here

or synch it up yourself - by starting thre Cd as the lion roars in the MGm symbol

great trippy fun

I saw Dark Side of Oz (what I've always grown up calling it and what it was called at the theater) this past fall semester at school.  They played it on the big screen, it was interesting but certainly not amazing.  I wouldn't pay to see it again, but I don't mind having paid to see it this first time.

Rush's "2112" syncs up flawlessly with "The Rite of the Spring" segment from Disney's Fantasia.
I actually found this one even more uncanny than Dark Side of the Rainbow.

Don't bother syncing it, it's already synced up in many online videos.  When timed right theres definitely some really cool things, like what is happening when Breathe transitions to On the Run, and Great Gig in the Sky.  But it's obviously coincidences that are blown out of proportion by people.
Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?
I will not forgive you if you will not take the chance.

and

very cool

I synched up :"Blade Runner" to PFs Wish you were here - it was greatfor about 10 minutes but then boring. I experimented and put PFs Sisyphus 1-4 to the scene where Deckard is chasing Zora in the streets - that was great!

It's just coincidence, as Floyd themselves have said. It's almost as silly as the "Stairway to Heaven" played backwards thing.
