Dude, that's a mellotron - (no wonder it sounds creepy) LOL

And it doesn't hurt that John says, "I buried Paul" after the tron solo Wink

It's creepy. I don't care what anyone says.

Good call my friend!  What makes it even creepier is hearing John say, "I buried Paul" during the fadeout  Evil Smile

Deja vu. Wink

As a child, I had to press the fast forward button many times when that song came on.
I still find it to be quite a deadly sound for that matter. Should be used in a horror movie to depict the rise of Satan. Lol
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

I played this to my little sis (11) today and she started crying hysterically, screaming at me to stop it. Sooo yeah

I was the complete opposite, I must have listened to it 100+ times with my ear pressed up to that speaker trying to hear the "I buried Paul".  I grew up with the Beatles and was a complete "Paul is dead" conspiracy nut...I knew all the musical and album cover clues...I'd play the White Album backwards...look at the Sgt Peppers cover in a mirror, debate who the walrus really was, the whole deal...but I must admit, the one song that used to totally freak me out was "Revolution 9".  I used to test my bravery by listening to R9 at midnight with the lights off...ya, and if I could get through that, I'd follow it up with D.O.A. by Bloodrock Evil Smile

I think it's been verified that the actual words were "cranberry sauce." If you listen to the version on "Anthology 2" you'll hear a clearer and more upfront mix of that section where the words are much easier to make out. Why John said it I don't think he could ever say.

A couple more to add:

Esperanto—The Rape. The extended coda, especially, has a great claustrophobic, continually-glancing-over-your-shoulder feel that builds suspense incredibly.

Quantum Jump—Alta Loma Road. Eerie tale of an encounter with a hostile stranger.

I know, but it's so much more fun to believe in the "Paul is Dead" thing Wink

If I had of known that was what was being said, I'd would have lost it! That would just be extra creepy for me.

On a side note, The Beatles did a ton of acid around that time so you can bet that had something to do with it. Lol

^ Of course there's the other famous John Lennon phrase to be heard on Sgt Pepper outtakes...his count-in to A Day in the Life...

"Sugarplum fairy...Sugarplum fairy...I read the news today oh boy..." Wink

You know, as scary ad the Beatles are I still quite adore them. Lol. I kid. They aren't scary, but they do have some creepy innuendos here and there. ;)

I've posted in this thread some years ago, so some of this may be repeat but whatever. I love creepy and deeply unsettling music this thread is lacking some of the scariest stuff ever recorded by far. Some of this has probably been posted before but i'm not going to look.

All of these songs should be listened too with the lights off and headphones on.

Clint Mansell & The Kronos Quartet - Meltdown. The perfect song to lose your sanity too.

Lustmord - Black Star. Like being on an alien planet and hearing the roars of far off beasts.

Krzysztof Penderecki - Polymorphia. Basically anything by Penderecki will leave your nerves feeling raw after listening.

Isolrubin BK - Motor Vehicle Collision Victim Removal Procedure. Controversial project from Brian Williams of Lustmord on traumatizing and violent car accidents. Not for the faint of heart.

Current 93 - Faust. Welcome to David Tibet's Sanatorium.

Current 93 - A Soft Voice Whispers Nothing. C93 and Thomas Ligotti.

Throbbing Gristle - Hamburger Lady. A song about a burn victim.

Tool - Faaip De Oiad. Never fails to send a chill throughout my whole body.

I actually don't find Penderecki very unsettling. Polymorphia makes me think of an enormous tree. Awe-inspiring more than scary.

Now, this on the other hand:

It also happens to be brilliant, too.  Also, "Interstellar Overdrive" and "A Saucerful of Secrets" made me panic the first time I listened to them back when my ears were young and inexperienced.

Interstellar Overdrive. That's what I was thinking.

Diamanda Galás.
I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.
