Close to the Edge by Yes or A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers by VDGG?

Personal preference makes me vote "A Plague," although "Close to the Edge" was once my favorite song and it's structure is still impressive.

I've said it before: I consider CttE to be one of the finest musical achievements of the 20th century.

I like them both, but I think VDGG's has a more mature sound, so they get my vote.

I was surprised I had to vote for CTTE to tie it up. If APOLK wasn't so haphazardly thrown together it might be a tough call.

I've always thought The Plague has the same problem as Supper's Ready, meaning that I don't think the fragments really create a natural sounding whole. I get this nasty feeling that The Plague could've been much better!
Close to the Edge, on the other hand, feels complete if an epic ever did. It amazes me that all the elements needed for this song to be created (starting with the 5 band members) were actually there right then. Beyond perfect!

Again, I have no idea what people see in Pawn Hearts (besides the interesting cover art).

Plague easily. CTTE to me is a great piece, but never gets even close to the heights of Plague.

Both are stellar tracks, but CttE is just a little bit closer to perfection.

while "Close to the Edge" is an excellent piece of music it never is as daring as "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers". the masterpiece of Yes is not "Close to the Edge" but "The Gates of Delirium"

Oh, but surely there are so much more masterpieces from Yes!
