From White Pony (2000), Deftones is an experimental metal band, near from bands like Tool, Dredg or Nine Inch Nails. Some songs: Enjoy |

I'm surprised they're not here already really.

Apparently they haven't been evaluated before. Well, I'm posting this suggestion right now for the Prog Metal Team.

Passenger is my favourite track from them
I have never considered them to be prog though |

As much as I like them too, I wouldn't consider them prog either. They have some proggier moments, but not prog altogether. Kind of like Alice in Chains.

White Pony, Saturday Night Wrist and Diamond Eyes are very art rock influenced, in my opinon. They are a experimental band as said above. If NIN are on this site Deftones should have been on this site long before them. Great band, Deftones alwyas put out good albums |

I've had all but the newest Deftones albums and I've seen them live...none of the stuff I've heard made me think "boy, this is proggy/prog-related!".

Seruum, we are in ProgArchives here, not in MetalMusicArchives.
I guess deftones fans would laugh at you if you try to convince them they listen to prog rock. |

The fans of many bands would laugh if they knew we have their bands on PA as "prog rock"

yes, indeed we have death metal bands, black metal bands, folk rock bands, funk bands, italian pop artists, sung poetry artists, dark wave artists (dead can dance, miranda sex garden...)... I guess we can find prog even in some of Michael Jackson's songs (Kevin Gilbert was involved in the making of 'Dangerous', not only as sound engineer but also as keyboardist I believe). And Prince recorded a full jazz/funk-rock album with 'rainbow children'. |

Has anybody noticed that Toby Driver and Chino Moreno have very similar vocal styles?
