Because they imply that everybody who doesn't like DT is too stupid to understand their music.

"To rate or not to rate, that is the question". How about just enjoying the music without any rating? Prog is elevated enough without needing internal disparaging numbers games.

Well, this may be true in England, but here in the United States the expression for the "stuff I don't like" is "anticonstitutional" |

I'm Guessing it's just a joke referencing that it seems like whenever a politician disagrees with a policy the opposite political party put in place or wants to put in place, they say that it's unconstitutional.

In one aspect , I think the Beatles are overrated: Some critics state they "invented" Metal with "Helter Skelter". I think that's too much... specially when Jimi Hendrix had already released 2 records before The White Album. As an overrated album , probablt Fragile. Never understood the hype.

I personally love Fragile, and would say that historically speaking it is one of the most important albums to the genre. Remove Fragile from history and many others would disappear "Back to the Future" style. |

While I agree is an influential album , I don't think is as strong as "The Yes album" for example. Actually is the only Yes record from their prime that I do not own. The solo pieces don't do it for me.

I was just contemplating Fragile myself. I love that album and have been listening to it constantly for the last couple weeks, but Cans and Brahms always gets in the way - it doesn't seem to really fit in. Rick Wakeman always has this flair for showing off his obsession with classical music, which is great; however, when the band you just joined is creating an album comprised of individual solo pieces and band songs woven together, choosing to cover something seems very non-uniform. That's my one complaint, but still I like the way he did it.

I actually remember myself watching this documentary on The Beatles, focused more on John Lennon than any other Beatle. Before The Beatles were The Beatles, they were ... u-u-u-u-u-uh ... The Quarrymen? ... something like that. Playing some real trash. Not thrash; trash ... ... although they might have done some thrash. You should have seen those outfits they were wearing, those haircuts they had. I believe "Helter Skelter" came from that period.Edited by Dayvenkirq - June 22 2012 at 10:45 |

I thought Helter Skelter was supposed to be the first hard rock song (not sure it is that either)? Neither Helter, nor Hendrix are really heavy metal at all. I think I might call Dazed and Confused a kind of proto-metal and then metal proper starts around 69/70 with KC, Sabbath etc.

^ This discussion probably needs to be taken to a different thread (think I'm starting to really annoy people with that comment).
