I've heard nowhere near enough Kansas to be sure, but right now I'm leaning towards Rush.

Both, but for the rating ratio I desire to add my stone to the Kansas cairn.

I picked Kansas mostly because they don't seem to get enough appreciation around here.

Love both, and no question who will win the poll (a view of the top 20 heavy prog albums could show this).
Kansas is more of a prog band. Rush started being a prog rock band 1975 and ceased being a prog rock band in 1982.
Just trying to bring you ravenous fanboys out of the woodwork.

I prefer Kansas by many miles. Rush is a good band with a few very good albums, but Kansas are masterminds! Point Of Know Return is one of my all time favourite albums and Leftoverture too is a masterpiece.

I couldn't really get into Rush. But Kansas is the reason I am here today.

yes, but they didn't cease recording good music : 'grace under pressure', 'power windows' (5-star album), 'hold your fire', 'presto', 'snakes and arrows' belong to my favourite Rush albums. Remember that non-prog doesn't equal bad (these days, I find a lot more to enjoy in non-prog bands that in prog ones). And Kansas were an AOR band in the eighties (their records featuring Steve Morse were actually very good) and incorporated some slight prog rock elements in their melodic rock of the nineties (not sure these albums could be tagged "prog").

| Yay! Someone has taken the bait!
First, you should know that Vapor Trails is probably my favorite Rush album (probably tied with Hemispheres), and I love Test for Echo. I never said Rush did bad music. They only have a few albums I'm not crazy about.
However, Kansas has Somewhere to Elsewhere, which is a progressive rock masterpiece (and their finest album, in my opinion). It's my second favorite album of all time, too! And Freaks of Nature is mostly a prog album as well, if you ask me.

Couldn't agree more. If only Kansas could have recruited Peart, now that would have been an band to see. I picked Kansas" 'cause I's love the organ".
